Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has commissioned major infrastructural projects executed by the administration of Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya in Gombe State, reaffirming a shared vision for regional development and human capital growth.
Governor Fintiri, who attended the event as Special Guest of Honour, lauded his Gombe counterpart for delivering impactful projects that directly improve the lives of citizens. He described the initiatives as strategic investments that will enhance connectivity, education, and economic opportunities across the state.
Among the projects inaugurated was the 33-kilometre Kaltungo–Balanga road, linking key communities across local government areas. Fintiri expressed satisfaction with the quality of the construction, noting that the road is durable and will stand the test of time while boosting socio-economic activities in the region.
The Adamawa governor also commissioned a modern Tsangaya School in Bakasi community, where he emphasized the importance of education as the foundation for future generations. He commended Governor Yahaya for addressing the educational needs of the people by integrating both Islamic and Western learning systems.
Fintiri further expressed readiness to strengthen collaboration between Adamawa and Gombe States, particularly in areas that will deliver mutual benefits to their citizens.
Speaking on the projects, Governor Inuwa Yahaya explained that the Kaltungo–Balanga road will improve inter-state connectivity, while the Tsangaya schools established across Gombe are designed to provide inclusive education and uplift communities.
As part of the visit, both governors inspected a one-megawatt solar mini-grid project in Talasse, Balanga Local Government Area. The facility is designed to supply electricity to about 6,000 households and businesses in Talasse and Suwa communities, which have experienced over 15 years without power supply. The project, a public-private partnership supported by the World Bank, is currently at about 80 percent completion, with provisions for expansion by an additional two megawatts.
They also toured the ongoing Balanga Hydropower Project, another critical initiative aimed at improving energy access in the state.
During a traditional homage to His Royal Highness, Alhaji Muhammadu Danjuma Muhammadu, the Bala Waja of Balanga Traditional Council, Governor Fintiri was conferred with the title of Bashama Waja, meaning Ambassador of the Waja people, in recognition of his leadership and contributions to regional unity.
