Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, on Wednesday led a delegation of North East governors to meet with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, over pressing development concerns in the region.
The meeting centered on the urgent completion of 17 strategic road projects and the revival of oil exploration in frontier wells, particularly the Kolmani and Lake Chad basins.
Joining Zulum, who chairs the North East Governors Forum, were Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa, and Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba.

Governor Zulum appealed to President Tinubu to fast-track critical projects that would enhance connectivity and economic growth across the six states. Priority roads mentioned included the Kano–Maiduguri Road, Port Harcourt–Jos–Bauchi–Maiduguri Railway line, Bama–Mubi–Yola Road, and the Wukari–Jalingo–Yola Road.
While appreciating Tinubu’s commitment to security in the sub-region, Zulum pledged the governors’ alignment with the federal government’s agenda on manpower development, technological advancement, and agricultural transformation.
“We are fully committed to Mr. President’s initiatives on manpower development and technology, which are key to defeating insurgency and achieving food security in line with the renewed hope agenda,” Zulum said.
Responding, President Tinubu welcomed the governors’ submissions and assured them of his administration’s determination to meet the developmental aspirations of the North East.
