The Office of the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government has taken another significant step towards modernising its administrative operations with a one-day training workshop on the E-Document Management System (EDMS).
The training, held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Alheri Royal Guest House in Yola, brought together selected staff of the SSG’s Office for practical sessions aimed at strengthening digital records management and accelerating the transition from traditional paper-based processes to electronic administration.
Declaring the workshop open, the Permanent Secretary, Political, in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mal. Ibrahim Buba, described the training as an important follow-up to the office’s ongoing digitisation programme.
He stressed the importance of embracing technology in government administration, noting that the transition to electronic systems would improve efficiency, enhance service delivery and strengthen the management of official information.
Mal. Buba urged staff to actively embrace the digitisation process and make effective use of the systems being introduced. He noted that the transformation would help make the SSG’s Office more efficient and distinguish it as a modern institution capable of responding more effectively to the demands of contemporary governance.
According to him, the office has already begun to record positive results from its digitisation efforts, expressing optimism that continued staff training would further strengthen the implementation of the programme.
The workshop featured practical sessions on the E-Document Management System User Guide and the Online Access Catalogue for Official Documents. The sessions were facilitated by Mr. Usman Aliyu and Mr. Usman Ahmed, who took participants through the various components of the systems and their practical application in the workplace.
Participants were trained on electronic files, records management, registry operations and the effective maintenance of digital archives. The facilitators also demonstrated how electronic records can be continuously updated, organised and managed to ensure that official information remains accessible, properly preserved and secure.
The training is expected to equip staff with the skills required to incorporate digital tools into their daily responsibilities, while reducing dependence on physical files and manual processes.

The move is particularly significant for the SSG’s Office, where efficient management and retrieval of official documents are essential to effective coordination of government business. By transitioning records to electronic platforms, the office is expected to improve document accessibility, reduce delays in information retrieval and strengthen institutional record-keeping.
The initiative also forms part of the broader digital transformation efforts of the Adamawa State Government, which continues to promote the adoption of technology across Ministries, Departments and Agencies to improve efficiency, transparency and service delivery.
The Office of the Secretary to the State Government is expected to continue building the capacity of its personnel as the digitisation programme progresses, ensuring that staff are adequately prepared to operate within an increasingly digital administrative environment.
The development further underscores the commitment of the Adamawa State Government to building a modern public service where technology is deployed to improve productivity, preserve institutional knowledge and deliver government services more efficiently.
