A high-level meeting of Secretaries to State Governments (SSGs) and members of the technical working group from the North East zone is currently underway in Jalingo, Taraba State. The strategic gathering is chaired by Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, SSG of Gombe State and Chairman of the North East SSGs Forum, with the aim of setting the agenda for the 12th session of the North East Governors’ Forum scheduled for Saturday, August 30, 2025.
In his welcome address, Professor Njodi praised the leadership qualities of governors across the North East and highlighted the pressing security challenges facing the region. He expressed optimism that the zone would emerge stronger, while commending the forum’s unwavering commitment to the growth and development of the subregion. He further urged participants to share all relevant information that could support the forum’s drive to move the North East forward.

Adamawa State’s SSG, Hon. Awwal D. Tukur, joined his counterparts in deliberations, reaffirming Adamawa’s strong commitment to regional cooperation and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s determination to work collectively with other governors to address common challenges such as insecurity, infrastructure, and economic development.
Earlier, the representative of the Secretary to the Taraba State Government welcomed delegates to Jalingo, describing the state’s hospitality as one extended to “all men and women of goodwill.”
The meeting is expected to culminate in a comprehensive agenda that will guide deliberations at the Governors’ meeting. With the North East Governors’ Forum set to convene just a day away, the SSGs and technical working group members are working tirelessly to ensure a productive and impactful session.
