Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Wednesday, May 29, 2025, welcomed the leadership of the Organized Labour to the Government House in Yola as they paid a visit to express appreciation for his administration’s bold implementation of the ₦70,000 minimum wage at the local government level.
The labour leaders described the move as historic, applauding the Governor for prioritizing the welfare of grassroots workers at a time when many states struggle with wage compliance.
In a major announcement during the meeting, Governor Fintiri revealed that his administration will release ₦5 billion in June 2025 to settle outstanding gratuities owed to retired state workers.




“In furtherance of our commitment to workers’ welfare, I announced the release of ₦5 Billion in June to clear outstanding gratuities. We remain steadfast in putting our workers first,” the Governor stated.
The development comes as part of a broader strategy to uplift the living standards of both active and retired public servants, reinforcing Governor Fintiri’s reputation as a pro-labour and people-focused leader.
He reiterated that no worker—active or retired—will be left behind under his watch, and assured continuous engagement with labour unions to address emerging challenges in the workforce.
