Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Professor Jibrin Aminu, describing him as a monumental loss to Adamawa State and Nigeria at large.
In a heartfelt message issued on June 5, 2025, Governor Fintiri paid tribute to the renowned scholar, calling him “an icon of intellect, patriotism, and statesmanship.” He noted that the late professor’s contributions to education, diplomacy, and public service will leave an enduring legacy.
“I mourn the loss of Professor Jibrin Aminu — an icon of intellect, patriotism, and statesmanship. Adamawa and Nigeria have lost a towering figure whose legacy in education, diplomacy, and public service will endure. May Allah grant him Aljannatul Firdaus,” Governor Fintiri stated.

Professor Jibrin Aminu, a respected academic, statesman, and former Minister of Education, was widely celebrated for his integrity, intellect, and lifelong service to Nigeria. His distinguished career earned him admiration both at home and abroad.
Governor Fintiri extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, the academic community, and the entire people of Adamawa State, praying for strength and comfort during this period of mourning.
