Governor Fintiri, Deputy, and State Officials Celebrate First Lady’s Double Honour and Birthday in Yola

“There are moments in life when celebration transcends ceremony when honour meets purpose, and joy becomes a reflection of service.”

That sentiment defined the atmosphere at the Adamawa State Banquet Hall, where family, friends, and dignitaries from across Nigeria gathered to celebrate Her Excellency, Hajiya Dr. Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, for her recent national and international recognitions, alongside her birthday, which she shares with her husband, Governor Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

The First Lady of Adamawa State was recently conferred with the Best First Lady in Nigeria Award for Health Care and Women’s Empowerment and an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Business Administration from the London Bridge Business School (LBBS), United Kingdom.

The prestigious dinner, organized by friends and admirers, was attended by the Executive Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri; Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa G. Farauta; members of the State Executive Council; lawmakers; local government chairmen; and women leaders representing all 21 LGAs of the state.

The evening’s highlight came as Governor Fintiri joined his wife to cut their shared birthday cake a symbolic moment of unity, love, and shared purpose. The cake-cutting ceremony, coordinated by Deputy Governor Prof. Kaletapwa Farauta, added warmth and excitement to an already memorable night.

In his brief remarks, Governor Fintiri expressed deep appreciation to the women of Adamawa State for their unwavering support for the First Lady and her humanitarian initiatives. He further revealed plans to commemorate his own birthday through visits to orphanages and hospitals across Yola, underscoring his administration’s compassion-driven approach to governance.

In an emotional speech, Her Excellency, Hajiya Dr. Lami Ahmadu Fintiri, thanked her friends and the women of Adamawa for organizing the event in her honour. She described the evening as a celebration of friendship, service, and shared purpose proof that collective commitment to humanity brings lasting change.

“These honours are not mine alone,” she said. “They belong to every woman whose voice has been uplifted, every child whose dreams have been rekindled, and every family whose hope has been restored through our shared service to humanity.”

Dr. Fintiri dedicated the awards to her husband, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for his unwavering support, and to the people of Adamawa State, whose faith and encouragement continue to inspire her dedication to public service.

She noted that the recognitions are proof that “genuine service never goes unnoticed.”

In his welcome address, Dr. Edgar Amos Sunday commended the First Lady’s transformational impact and leadership across Adamawa, highlighting her unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment and health advocacy.

Also speaking, the ALGON Chairman and Executive Chairman of Toungo Local Government Area, Hon. Suleiman Ahmed Gangkuba, lauded the First Lady’s compassion and far-reaching programs that have positively impacted women, children, and vulnerable groups across the state.

He emphasized that her initiatives complement the progressive agenda of Governor Fintiri’s administration, reinforcing Adamawa’s reputation as a model of inclusive governance and people-centered leadership.
