Gov Fintiri Visits Guyuk, Flags Off Roads, Orders Electrification of Bobini and Bodeno Within Six Months

Governor Directs Immediate Action on Power, Water and Health Projects

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Tuesday continued his statewide tour across Adamawa’s 21 local government areas with a strategic stop in Guyuk, where he announced and flagged off key infrastructure projects aimed at accelerating development in the area.

A major highlight of the visit was the Governor’s firm directive to connect Bobini and Bodeno wards to the national electricity grid within six months. The order was issued to the Commissioner for Rural Infrastructure and Community Development, Mr. Titus Obadiah, following persistent appeals from community leaders who lamented that the two wards have remained without electricity and other basic amenities for decades.

Governor Fintiri made it clear that the era of neglect is over, stressing that access to electricity is not a privilege but a necessity for economic growth, security, and improved living standards.

In furtherance of his administration’s infrastructure drive, the Governor officially flagged off the construction of the eight-kilometre Banjiram–Chikila road. He described the project as critical to improving rural access, enhancing trade and agricultural transportation, and opening up communities for broader economic participation.

He also pledged the construction of two and a half kilometres of township roads within the Guyuk metropolitan area to ease movement and improve the urban outlook of the town.

On water supply, Governor Fintiri directed the Commissioner for Water Resources to fast-track the ongoing water project in Guyuk to ensure households gain access to potable water without further delay.

The Governor further assured residents that the second phase of the rehabilitation of Guyuk Cottage Hospital will commence soon, with the long-term goal of upgrading the facility into a fully-fledged General Hospital capable of delivering expanded healthcare services.

Reaffirming his commitment to inclusive governance, Governor Fintiri emphasized that his administration remains focused on delivering dividends of democracy to every part of the state, regardless of political affiliation. He urged the people of Guyuk to sustain their support and confidence in his leadership.

The Governor was accompanied by his Deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, members of the Peoples Democratic Party leadership, senior government officials, special advisers, and political associates.

In his remarks, the Chairman of Guyuk Local Government Council, Barrister Kasa Shalom, commended the administration’s impact in the area, highlighting projects such as the construction of the Local Education Authority office complex and the Kwadadai Health Clinic, which was commissioned by the Governor.

Also speaking, the member representing Guyuk in the State House of Assembly, commissioners from the local government area, and other stakeholders praised what they described as visible development strides recorded since Governor Fintiri assumed office over six years ago.

Earlier upon arrival, Governor Fintiri paid a courtesy visit to the Kwandi Nungura, His Royal Highness Kuruhaye Dishon Dansanda II, at his palace. The Governor reiterated his determination to complete ongoing projects and fulfill outstanding commitments to the people.

In his response, the royal father expressed appreciation for the rehabilitation of Guyuk Cottage Hospital and the ongoing water project but passionately appealed for the urgent electrification of Bobini and Bodeno wards, describing it as a long-overdue necessity.
