Adamawa Govt Approves Sale of 1,000 Housing Units to Civil ServantsCivil Servants to Acquire Homes at ₦9m and ₦11m in Malkohi Estate

The Adamawa State Government has approved the sale of 1,000 housing units at the State Housing Estate, Malkohi, in Yola South Local Government Area.

The project, which had stalled for years due to inflation and economic setbacks, is being revived and completed under the administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

Speaking at a press briefing in Yola on Thursday, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development and Chairman of the Project Committee, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Prambe, described the approval as a major breakthrough in addressing the housing needs of civil servants.

He announced that the houses will be sold at ₦9,706,195.47 for two-bedroom flats and ₦11,708,194.59 for three-bedroom flats, noting that offer letters will soon be distributed to beneficiaries as directed by the Governor.

Prambe also disclosed that Governor Fintiri approved additional facilities beyond the original master plan, including perimeter fencing, security outposts, barracks, and modern drainage systems.

On financing, the Managing Director of the Adamawa State Mortgage Bank, Dauda Mohammed Galadima, said the state is engaging the Family Homes Fund and the Federal Mortgage Bank to support affordability. Under the plan, civil servants will domicile their salaries with the mortgage bank and make flexible monthly repayments.

Labour unions have also welcomed the development. Dr. Nyalas Batholomew, who spoke on behalf of workers, commended Governor Fintiri for prioritizing welfare, stressing that affordability considerations guided the allocation process.

“This scheme opens the door for every worker who can afford it to own a home,” Dr. Batholomew stated.
