Adamawa Executive Council Approves N19.6bn Mother and Child Specialist Hospital in Yola

The Adamawa State Executive Council, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved the construction of a state-of-the-art Mother and Child Specialist Hospital in the state capital at a total cost of N19.6 billion.

The approval was granted during the Council’s first meeting of 2026, signaling the administration’s renewed commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery across the state.

Briefing journalists shortly after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. James Iliya, disclosed that the project will be handled by Lubell Nigeria Limited and is expected to be completed within 52 weeks.

According to him, the facility is designed to provide modern, specialized healthcare services for women and children, reducing the burden on existing hospitals and improving access to quality medical care.

Speaking further on the initiative, the Commissioner for Health, Chief Felix Tangwami, stated that the establishment of the Mother and Child Specialist Hospital is aimed at significantly improving maternal and child health indices in Adamawa State.

He noted that the new hospital will offer advanced medical services, enhance emergency response for obstetric and neonatal cases, and contribute to reducing preventable maternal and infant mortality.

The project forms part of the Fintiri administration’s broader agenda to expand healthcare infrastructure, modernize facilities, and ensure that residents of Adamawa State have access to efficient and specialized medical services.
