Adamawa Approves N135bn Supplementary Budget, Okays N14.9bn Mubi–Maiha Road Project

The Adamawa State Executive Council, under the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved a supplementary budget of N135 billion for the 2025 fiscal year.

The approval, which came during the council’s 18th meeting held at the Government House, Yola, raises the state’s total budget size from N486.2 billion to N621.2 billion.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, James Iliya, said the new budgetary injection would enable the government to consolidate ongoing projects and initiate fresh ones across the state.

He further disclosed that the council approved N14.9 billion for the reconstruction of the 24-kilometre Mubi–Maiha road, a critical project awarded to Messrs Triacta Nigeria and expected to be completed within 15 months.

Commissioner for Works and Energy, Adamu Atiku, explained that although the road is a federal project, the state government decided to intervene due to the hardship faced by citizens. He noted that the road had remained in disrepair since it was last constructed and abandoned in 2002.

Similarly, the council approved N1.2 billion as counterpart funds for the implementation of the 2025 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Conditional Grant Scheme (CGS).

Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Emmanuel Pridimso, clarified that the supplementary budget was made possible by additional revenues recorded by the state, stressing that the funds would help fast-track priority projects.

On his part, the State Focal Person on SDGs, Muhammad Alfa Raji, welcomed the development, noting that counterpart funding will boost socio-economic growth in Adamawa. He urged the federal government to release its own share of funds to ensure smooth execution of the programs.
