Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, has granted pardon to six inmates serving various prison sentences across correctional facilities in the state.
The gesture, announced in commemoration of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, followed recommendations from the Adamawa State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy.
Governor Fintiri explained that the beneficiaries had shown remarkable improvement in behaviour and conduct during their incarceration.

“In the exercise of my prerogative of mercy as enshrined in the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and in line with the recommendations of the Adamawa State Advisory Council on Prerogative of Mercy, I have granted pardon to six persons who have served various jail terms and demonstrated good conduct over the years,” Fintiri stated.
The Governor ordered their immediate release and directed relevant authorities to give effect to the pardon without delay.
Those discharged include:
- Wamari Godwin – Medium Security Custodial Centre, Mubi
- Abraham Marksunil – Medium Security Custodial Centre, Mubi
- David Paul – Medium Security Custodial Centre, Numan
- Ibrahim Adamu – Satellite Custodial Facility, Maiha
- Usman Inuwa – Medium Security Custodial Centre, Yola New
- Sani Yahaya – Satellite Custodial Facility, Ganye
