The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed a fatal motor accident involving a military gun truck and a commercial Hummer bus along the Narehi axis of Girei-Song Local Government Areas.
The crash, which occurred on June 3, 2026, at about 1:50 p.m., involved a head-on collision between the military vehicle travelling from Gombi to Yola and the passenger bus heading from Yola to Mubi.
According to preliminary findings, the impact caused the commercial bus to flip and burst into flames, resulting in the death of all five passengers on board. Authorities revealed that four of the victims were serving members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) posted to Adamawa State, while efforts are ongoing to identify the remaining victim.


The deceased NYSC members have been identified as Suleuman Juliet and Usman Shuaibu, both indigenes of Kaduna State, alongside two others yet to be confirmed.
The Police also confirmed that one military personnel attached to the gun truck lost his life in the crash.
Emergency responders, including police operatives, swiftly arrived at the scene to evacuate the victims. The remains have been deposited at the Specialist Hospital in Yola, while authorities continue efforts to identify all victims and notify their families.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as a heartbreaking loss to the state and the nation. He extended condolences to the bereaved families, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and the NYSC, praying for strength and comfort for all those affected.
The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, also conveyed his condolences and assured that further details will be made available as investigations continue.
