In a historic recognition of his administration’s commitment to innovation and modern governance, the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has been awarded the “Best Governor in Digital Transformation” at the prestigious 2025 Nigeria GovTech Awards, held tonight at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The award, presented during a high-profile ceremony attended by governors, federal ministers, technology leaders, and development partners, celebrates outstanding leadership in leveraging technology to improve public service delivery, transparency, and citizen engagement across Nigeria.
Due to official engagements, Governor Fintiri was represented by his wife, the First Lady of Adamawa State, Hajiya Lami Fintiri, who received the accolade on his behalf to a standing ovation from the audience.

“This award is not just for Governor Fintiri, it belongs to the entire people of Adamawa State,” Hajiya Lami Fintiri said in her acceptance speech. “It reflects our collective belief that government must be smart, responsive, and accessible. From e-governance platforms to digital infrastructure expansion, this administration has placed technology at the heart of its development agenda.”
The selection panel commended Governor Fintiri for visionary initiatives that have redefined public service in Adamawa, including:
- The rollout of integrated e-governance systems across key ministries and agencies.
- Strategic investments in broadband infrastructure, including compliance with the ₦0 Right-of-Way (RoW) fee cap to accelerate fiber optic deployment.
- Partnerships with institutions like ATCON, NCC, and the World Bank–supported SABER program to attract telecom investments.
- Launch of digital literacy programs aimed at empowering youth, women, and rural communities.
The award comes on the heels of Adamawa State’s active participation in the ongoing ATCON Strategic Stakeholders’ Meeting on Critical National Information Infrastructure, where the state reaffirmed its commitment to protecting telecom assets and fostering a digital-friendly investment climate.
Dr. Hammajam Ahmed Adamu, Special Adviser to the Governor on ICTs, E-Governance, and Policy, hailed the recognition as a major milestone.
“This is validation of our Digital Adamawa vision,” he said. “We are building a state where citizens can access services online, businesses can thrive on reliable connectivity, and governance is data-driven and transparent. This award motivates us to go further, faster.”
The Nigeria GovTech Awards are widely regarded as the highest honor in public sector innovation, recognizing individuals and institutions driving technological excellence in governance.
As Adamawa continues to implement transformative digital reforms, this national recognition solidifies its position as a pioneer of tech-enabled governance in Northern Nigeria.
