In a decisive move to uphold the dignity of senior citizens, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved the release of ₦3 billion for the payment of gratuities to Local Government retirees across Adamawa State.
This announcement, made on May 30, 2025, comes just hours after the Governor committed ₦5 billion for the settlement of State retirees’ gratuities, bringing the total recent payout to retirees to ₦8 billion.

Governor Fintiri emphasized that the move is part of his administration’s ongoing commitment to restoring the dignity and welfare of those who served the state faithfully.
“Today, I fulfilled yet another promise to our senior citizens by approving ₦3 billion for the payment of gratuities to our Local Government retirees. This is coming just hours after committing ₦5 billion for State retirees. We’re restoring dignity, one life at a time,” the Governor stated.
The gesture has been widely praised as a bold and compassionate intervention, particularly in a period where many retirees across Nigeria are left in neglect due to mounting pension arrears.
Governor Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to prompt and fair compensation, stressing that “no retiree who gave their productive years to the state should be forgotten or abandoned.”
This development marks another fulfillment of a campaign promise by the Fintiri-led government, reflecting a governance style rooted in empathy, accountability, and fiscal responsibility.
