Gov Fintiri Distributes Tractors to 21 LGAs, Boosts 2026 Farming Season in Adamawa

Grassroots Mechanisation Drive Targets Food Security and Job Creation

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has officially handed over newly procured tractors and agricultural implements to all 21 Local Government Councils in Adamawa State, in a major push to strengthen agricultural productivity ahead of the 2026 farming season.

The distribution, which took place in Yola, forms part of the state government’s broader commitment to empowering farmers at the grassroots and modernising agricultural practices across rural communities.

Speaking during the handover, Gov Fintiri emphasized that the initiative is designed to ease farming activities, expand cultivation capacity, and significantly boost food production across the state.

He noted that access to modern farming equipment remains critical to improving efficiency in agriculture, particularly for smallholder farmers who form the backbone of Adamawa’s rural economy.

The governor further stated that the deployment of the tractors and implements will not only enhance productivity but also create employment opportunities, stimulate local economies, and encourage greater participation in agriculture.

“This intervention is about building a sustainable agricultural system that supports our people, attracts investment, and ensures food security for the future,” he said.

The initiative aligns with the administration’s long-term vision of transforming Adamawa into a leading agricultural hub, while improving livelihoods and reducing poverty in rural areas.

With the 2026 farming season underway, expectations are high that the mechanisation support will translate into increased yields and improved economic outcomes for farmers across the state.
