The Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, CON, has been honoured with the Lifetime of Distinguished Service to the Historical Society of Nigeria Award by the Historical Society of Nigeria (HSN).
The prestigious award was presented in recognition of the Executive Governor’s remarkable contributions to education, cultural preservation, and his consistent support for historical research and scholarship in Nigeria.




The presentation ceremony took place at the Governor’s Office, Yola, on October 16, 2025, as part of activities marking the Society’s event and the 6th Congress of the Association of African Historians.
Receiving the award, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri expressed profound appreciation to the Historical Society of Nigeria for the honour, describing it as an encouragement to continue advancing knowledge, history, and cultural values in Adamawa State and across the nation.
The Executive Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promoting history and academic excellence through investment in education, support for scholars, and the preservation of historical institutions and archives.
He noted that societies thrive when they honour their past, learn from it, and use it as a foundation for building a more enlightened and united future.
