Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Thursday presided over the 16th Executive Council meeting of 2025 in Yola, where the Council approved projects worth over ₦5.4 billion targeted at road construction, security, power supply, and infrastructure upgrades across Adamawa State.
Briefing journalists after the meeting at the Government House Council Chambers, Commissioner of Information, James Iliya, said the approvals include ₦4.4 billion for the construction of the 18km Girei–Pariya–Wuro Bokki Road (Phase One) to be executed by Rekon and Kon Nigeria Limited, with a 12-month completion period.
The Council also approved ₦189 million for the construction of a police outpost at the 1,000-unit Housing Estate in Malkohi, a move aimed at strengthening security and protecting infrastructure in the estate.
To improve power supply, a new 1,000 KVA generator worth ₦580 million will be procured for the Government House to replace the old one purchased in 2014. In addition, ₦199 million has been set aside for the procurement of 10 transformers to be distributed to underserved communities.

Commissioner of Works, Adamu Atiku Abubakar, explained that the Girei–Pariya road project was first awarded in 2016 but abandoned due to non-payment by the past administration. He noted that the Fintiri government has revived the project and restructured it into phases, with Phase One now awarded at a revised cost of ₦6.4 billion, while the original contractor has been retained with a 12-month delivery timeline.
Commissioner of Urban Development, Abdullahi Prambe, described the approvals as part of the Governor’s urban renewal agenda, which aims to decongest the capital city. He noted that the 1,000 housing units at Malkohi are nearing completion, and security outposts have been prioritized to ensure residents’ safety. He further added that other government facilities, including the Governor’s Office, Government lodges, and the main gate of the Government House, are also receiving upgrades.
The new 1,000 KVA generator, he said, will guarantee steady power supply in Government House whenever public electricity is unavailable.
With these approvals, Governor Fintiri has once again underscored his administration’s focus on infrastructure expansion, security enhancement, and improved living standards for both urban and rural communities across Adamawa State.
