Govt Pledges Full Support, Demands Professional Policing
Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has assured the newly posted Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan Umar, of unwavering government support to sustain peace and strengthen security across the state.
The assurance was given when the police chief paid a courtesy visit to Government House, Yola, where the governor described him as a seasoned and disciplined officer capable of handling the demands of the office.
Governor Fintiri reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with security agencies, stressing that safeguarding lives and property remains a core responsibility of government. He noted that Adamawa, which once faced serious security challenges, has recorded significant improvement through sustained collaboration and strategic coordination with security operatives.
He pledged continued support in key areas including logistics, intelligence sharing, and personnel welfare, emphasizing that effective policing depends on strong institutional backing.
The governor also charged the new CP to maintain professionalism, neutrality, and strict adherence to the rule of law, warning against any form of political interference in security operations.
In his response, CP Kabir Hassan Umar expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to deploy his experience in enhancing peace and stability across Adamawa State.
He commended the Fintiri administration’s achievements in infrastructure and governance, describing them as impactful and people-focused. The police commissioner assured that the command would strengthen its security architecture to tackle emerging threats while deepening community policing.
He further called on residents to support security agencies with timely and credible information, reaffirming the command’s commitment to protecting all citizens.
