Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Wednesday visited the Kofsopah Dam site in Fufore Local Government Area to personally assess concerns raised about its possible link to the recent devastating flood in parts of Yola.
While preliminary findings by experts indicate that the dam poses no immediate threat, the governor announced that a more comprehensive technical review is underway to leave no room for doubt.

“Our commitment is to facts, not fear,” Governor Fintiri stated. “We are deploying more professionals to conduct a detailed assessment and ensure public confidence in the safety of the dam and surrounding infrastructure.”
He extended heartfelt condolences to the families who lost loved ones and reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting affected residents and addressing other contributing factors, such as blocked water channels and poor drainage.
The visit underscores the government’s proactive approach to flood management and its broader efforts to safeguard communities through evidence-based action and responsive leadership.
