On July 28, 2025, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri arrived in Yola and immediately proceeded to assess the flood-affected areas, personally walking through devastated homes to identify possible root causes of the disaster.
The governor, visibly moved by the extent of damage, directed that additional relief materials be dispatched to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp and offered prayers for the souls of those who lost their lives in the tragedy.

Governor Fintiri disclosed that a team of experts is being assembled to study the flooding and propose long-term solutions to avert future occurrences.
In a firm statement, he warned that no structure, regardless of its size or ownership, will be allowed to remain on natural water channels if found to be obstructing water flow.
“We must act decisively to protect lives and prevent future tragedies,” he said, underscoring his administration’s commitment to enforcing environmental compliance across Adamawa State.
