Governor Fintiri Hosts Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, Vows Stronger Military Collaboration for Lasting Peace in Adamawa

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Friday welcomed Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and top-ranking military officials to his office in Yola, where security cooperation and sustained peace topped the agenda.

The visit comes at a time when Adamawa enjoys relative calm compared to past years of security threats. Governor Fintiri praised the military’s role in maintaining peace in the region and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deepening civil-military collaboration.

“Our discussion focused on strengthening security collaboration, enhancing peacebuilding efforts, and sustaining the relative calm across Adamawa,” Governor Fintiri said following the meeting. “We must remain proactive and united in securing our state and protecting the lives and property of our people.”

General Musa, in his remarks, commended the government and people of Adamawa for their cooperation with security agencies and emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing, inter-agency synergy, and continued community engagement in keeping insurgency and criminality at bay.

The meeting underscored Adamawa’s strategic importance in the broader security architecture of the Northeast, as well as the need to maintain the momentum in combating emerging threats.

Governor Fintiri reiterated that his administration would not relent in investing in security infrastructure, supporting security personnel, and promoting dialogue among communities as a tool for peace.
