Gov Fintiri Approves Major Upgrade as Demolition Begins at Adamawa Civil Service Commission Headquarters

Demolition work has officially commenced at the Adamawa State Civil Service Commission Headquarters in Jimeta, Yola, marking the start of a comprehensive renovation and upgrade aimed at delivering a modern, fit-for-purpose government facility.

Confirming the development on Wednesday in Yola, the Permanent Secretary of the Commission, Abubakar Umar Maiha, said construction activities are already underway, following the clearing of parts of the old structure to pave the way for the new development.

Maiha disclosed that the project is fully funded and awarded by the Adamawa State Government under the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, stressing that it forms part of the administration’s broader urban renewal and public infrastructure modernization agenda.

He noted that the upgrade reflects Governor Fintiri’s vision of transforming government institutions into efficient, modern workplaces that meet global standards and enhance service delivery across the civil service.

Scope of the Upgrade Project

According to the Permanent Secretary, the project will involve extensive remodeling and renovation of existing buildings, alongside the construction of new facilities within the commission’s headquarters. These include a new administrative block, a modern office complex, gatehouse, generator house, ICT block, perimeter fencing, and other supporting external works.

Executive Council Approval and Timeline

The project was approved by the Adamawa State Executive Council during its 20th meeting held in October 2025, with a total contract sum of ₦837 million. The renovation and upgrade are expected to be completed within six months.

The redevelopment of the Civil Service Commission headquarters is another key milestone in Governor Fintiri’s drive to reposition public institutions, improve working conditions for civil servants, and strengthen governance infrastructure across Adamawa State.
