Adamawa State Food Security Committee Makes Strides Towards Agricultural Expansion

In a concerted effort to bolster agricultural production and ensure food security in Adamawa State, the Food Security Committee has made significant progress in its initiatives to expand farmland across the state. The committee, established by the Executive Governor, has been diligently working towards optimizing agricultural yields and addressing food scarcity challenges.

Led by the Secretary to the Adamawa State Government, the committee has undertaken extensive deliberations and consultations to develop comprehensive strategies aimed at revitalizing the agricultural sector. Recognizing the immense potential of agriculture in Adamawa State, the committee has identified key priority areas for intervention to enhance food production and mitigate hunger.

One of the primary objectives of the committee is to expand agricultural land by clearing and opening up new areas for cultivation. To this end, a meeting was convened with all local government council chairmen to discuss the allocation of uncleared virgin lands for agricultural purposes. Substantial progress has been made, with several local government areas committing to providing hectares of land for cultivation.

Notable commitments include allocations from Michika, Mubi South, Maiha, Hong, Gombi, Song, Fufore, Shelleng, Guyuk, Lamurde, Numan, Demsa, Mayo Belwa, Jada, Ganye, and Toungo local government areas. These allocations, totaling hundreds of hectares, signify a significant step towards expanding agricultural activities and boosting food production in the state.

Furthermore, the committee has outlined a timeline for the submission of land availability and location data by the local government chairmen, ensuring prompt action and coordination. This proactive approach underscores the committee’s dedication to expediting the process of land clearance and agricultural expansion.

The Adamawa State Food Security Committee remains committed to its mandate of ensuring food sufficiency and improving agricultural productivity across the state. With robust collaboration and concerted efforts, the committee aims to address food insecurity challenges and foster sustainable agricultural development in Adamawa State.
