Adamawa Approves Super Highway Contract Variation and Ultra Modern Stadium Completion

In a bid to enhance infrastructure development and foster youth engagement, the Adamawa State Executive Council has made significant approvals during its recent meeting.

Super Highway Contract Variation: The Council approved an additional 18.8 billion naira for the ongoing superhighway project, extending from FGGC Yola to AA Lawan junction through Rumde Kila. This decision was made due to an increase in the scope of work, bringing the new contract sum to 40.6 billion naira. Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri emphasized the importance of this project in improving connectivity and facilitating economic growth in the state.

Completion of Ultra-Modern Stadium: In line with the administration’s commitment to youth development and sports promotion, over 4.7 billion naira was approved for the completion of the Jimeta permanent stadium. This state-of-the-art facility aims to unify youths, promote peaceful coexistence, and reduce youth restiveness.

Federal Medical Centre, Hong Handover: The Council also approved the formal handover of the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) of the Federal Medical Centre, Hong, to the Federal Ministry of Health. This move is aimed at ensuring the proper take-off of the facility for the benefit of citizens.

Global Fund Counterpart Funding: A grant of 450 million naira was approved as counterpart funding for the global fund, which will attract 15 billion naira for more support and empowerment to service 270 thousand women in the state. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to healthcare and women’s empowerment.

Budget Discipline: To ensure budget discipline, the Council approved 18.2 billion naira against the 2023 fiscal year, allowing MDAs to work within their budget allocations. This decision aims to promote financial accountability and effective resource management.
