The Adamawa State Executive Council, under the leadership of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has approved a viament of N22.8 billion within the existing N486.2 billion 2025 budget. The reallocation targets key infrastructure, governance, and public welfare projects to reflect rising costs and evolving state priorities.
The decision was reached during the Council meeting held Wednesday in the Government House, Yola.

Recurrent and Capital Adjustments
Briefing Government House correspondents after the meeting, Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr Emmanuel Pridimso, explained that N8 billion of the viament is directed toward recurrent expenditure to cover rising overheads in ministries, departments, and agencies, which have reportedly exhausted their initial provisions.
A more substantial N14.8 billion will fund capital projects, including:
- N2.04 billion for the construction of a new NYSC Orientation Camp, with N199 million set aside for consultancy services
- N3.4 billion for the modernization of the State Amusement Park, aimed at boosting tourism and public recreation
- N3 billion for the 24-kilometre Maiha–Mubi Road to enhance rural-urban connectivity
- N1.2 billion for a new 5-kilometre Mubi bypass road linking directly to the cattle market, supporting agribusiness logistics
- N800 million for facelift works in Government House, Yola
- N500 million for consultancy services for the renovation of State High Court (Lot 1A and 1B)
- N650 million for the procurement of a 1000 KVA Cummins Generator for Government House to ensure uninterrupted operations
Mr Pridimso clarified that the adjustments consolidate all budgetary viaments made since January, and will be reflected in the final printed version of the revised 2025 budget.
Water Supply Projects Across LGAs
In a related update, Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr Ayuba Audu, revealed that the Council approved N360 million for the Gulak Water Scheme upgrade in Madagali LGA. The project includes 12.4 kilometres of reticulation, aimed at enhancing access to potable water.
He confirmed that water infrastructure projects are ongoing in 17 local government areas, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to improving public health and hygiene across the state.
State Response to Child Trafficking Incident
Also addressing reporters, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Neido Geoffrey, highlighted the Council’s discussion on the recent rescue and repatriation of 13 trafficked children from Anambra State back to Adamawa.
She issued a strong warning to parents and guardians to avoid sending children on errands at odd hours, noting that such exposure increases vulnerability to trafficking and exploitation. Mrs Geoffrey described the incident as a grave threat to the wellbeing of residents, and reaffirmed the ministry’s resolve to intensify community sensitization and surveillance efforts.
This budget revision is the latest in Governor Fintiri’s infrastructure-driven administration, reflecting a deliberate shift towards reinforcing state assets, improving security and mobility, and addressing growing social needs amid economic pressures.
