Governor Fintiri Visits Maiduguri, Offers Support to Flood Victims and Calls for Swift Action

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State paid a visit to Maiduguri today, where he expressed solidarity with the people of Borno State following the devastating floods that have caused significant loss of life, homes, and livelihoods.

Speaking after assessing the damage, Governor Fintiri described the situation as “heartbreaking” and offered his deepest sympathies to those affected.

“What I saw was truly heartbreaking—the loss of lives, homes, and livelihoods. Adamawa State stands with Borno in this difficult time,” the Governor said.

In a gesture of support, Governor Fintiri announced that Adamawa State has provided essential resources to aid in the recovery efforts led by Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State. These resources are expected to assist in alleviating the immediate needs of those impacted by the floods, including emergency relief and rebuilding efforts.

“We’ve provided Governor Zulum with essential resources to aid recovery efforts,” Fintiri added.

Governor Fintiri also took the opportunity to call on the federal government and relevant stakeholders to take swift action to prevent future occurrences of such disasters. He emphasized the need for long-term solutions to address the causes of flooding and improve infrastructure resilience in the region.

“I urge the federal government and all stakeholders to take swift action to prevent future occurrences,” he said.

As Borno State continues to grapple with the aftermath of the floods, Governor Fintiri’s visit is seen as a vital show of solidarity, reinforcing the strong ties between Adamawa and Borno and underlining the importance of collective action in times of crisis.
