Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri today received 60 beneficiaries of Adamawa State’s foreign scholarship program, who returned after successfully completing their degrees at top universities in India.
The state government has offered these graduates automatic employment upon their return, following their one-year mandatory service. This initiative underscores the administration’s commitment to investing in the education of Adamawa indigenes and providing opportunities for the state’s development.
The graduates visited the Government House to express their gratitude to the governor for the scholarship program that allowed them to pursue higher education abroad. Speaking to reporters after the meeting, the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Umar Umar Garba Pella, highlighted the immense appreciation the graduates have for Governor Fintiri’s vision in supporting their education.
Dr. Pella explained that the scholarship scheme, introduced in 2020, focused on sponsoring Adamawa indigenes to study engineering programs in India. He praised the graduates’ academic performance and reiterated the governor’s pledge to sustain and expand the program, which has made a significant impact on the state’s human capital development.
The commissioner also revealed plans to send another batch of students to China for further educational opportunities under the state’s next scholarship program.
On behalf of the graduates, Tahir Iju Sama’ila expressed profound gratitude to Governor Fintiri, emphasizing the importance of his unwavering support in ensuring their education was fully sponsored. He also acknowledged that while many states abandoned their sponsored students, Governor Fintiri remained committed to their success.
Tahir Iju Sama’ila urged his fellow graduates to continue striving for excellence and to contribute to the betterment of Adamawa State and the nation.
