Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic tanker explosion in Jigawa State, which claimed numerous lives and left many injured. In a heartfelt message, Governor Fintiri extended his condolences to the families of the victims and offered prayers for the injured, describing the loss as “unimaginable.”
“This tragic event is a reminder of the urgent need to rethink how we transport hazardous materials across the country,” Governor Fintiri said. “Our roads are overburdened, and the government must prioritize safer alternatives like rail transport and other credible solutions for moving cargo.”
He stressed that such steps are crucial in preventing future accidents and saving lives, adding that “Adamawa stands in solidarity with Jigawa during this moment of grief. Together, we will heal.”
The explosion has reignited concerns over the safety of road transport, especially for hazardous materials, with calls for the government to implement long-term measures to prevent similar tragedies.
