Committee Holds Meeting on Relocation of Traders for Market Construction

A committee comprising two House of Assembly members from Yola North, the Chairman of the Committee on Commerce, the Honorable Commissioner of Commerce, and union representatives from Jimeta Shopping Complex and Jimeta Modern Markets met with the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Hon. Awwal Tukur on 5th May, 2024 to discuss the relocation of traders to Falluja Market in preparation for the construction of the Jimeta Shopping Complex.

The deadline set for traders to vacate the market is set for May 15th, 2024. However, the committee pleaded for an extension due to the slow progress of work at Falluja Market. In response, the SSG, Hon. Awwal Tukur, assured the committee of government support but directed them to accelerate the development of the site to facilitate the smooth transition of traders.

This meeting underscores the government’s commitment to infrastructure development and the modernization of market facilities in Adamawa State, ensuring better business environments for traders and improved amenities for the public.
