The Special Adviser to the Executive Governor of Adamawa State on ICTs, E-Governance and Policy, Dr. Hammajam Ahmed Adamu, has been formally invited to a high-level Strategic Stakeholders’ Meeting on the implementation of the Executive Order on Critical National Information Infrastructure (CNII).
The invitation, issued by the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), extends to Dr. Adamu, the Permanent Secretary of the Adamawa State Ministry of ICT, and heads of relevant ICT agencies in the state. The meeting is scheduled to hold on August 15, 2025, in Abuja, under the theme: “Rallying Critical Stakeholders to Drive the Successful Execution of the Executive Order on Critical National Information Infrastructure.”
This second edition of ATCON’s Strategic Stakeholders’ Meeting brings together ICT Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries, and agency heads from all 36 states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to align efforts toward safeguarding Nigeria’s digital infrastructure.
In the official letter dated August 5, 2025, ATCON National President, Mr. Tony Izuagbe Emoekpere, emphasized the historic significance of the Executive Order issued by the Office of the National Security Adviser—which formally designates telecommunications infrastructure as part of Nigeria’s Critical National Information Infrastructure.
“This landmark decision is expected to create a more enabling environment for investment, innovation, and sustainable growth in the telecom sector,” the letter stated. “It underscores the government’s commitment to protecting vital digital assets that support national security, economic development, and public safety.”
The meeting aims to achieve three core strategic objectives:
- Secure statewide collaboration in implementing the CNII Executive Order.
- Partner with state governments to accelerate broadband-driven economic growth, job creation, and poverty reduction.
- Encourage telecom investors and service providers to expand operations into underserved regions, including Adamawa State.
ATCON also highlighted the critical role state ICT leaders play as frontline implementers, tasked with coordinating policy execution, curbing vandalism of telecom facilities, and fostering public-private partnerships.
While ATCON will host the proceedings, the state government is expected to cover travel and accommodation costs for its delegation.
Dr. Hammajam Ahmed Adamu affirmed Adamawa State’s commitment to digital transformation, stating that participation in the summit is crucial to positioning the state as a key player in Nigeria’s digital economy revolution.
“We cannot afford to be left behind. This is not just about technology it’s about security, opportunity, and inclusive development for our people,” Dr. Adamu said in a brief statement.
The outcome of the meeting is expected to shape a unified national framework for securing telecom infrastructure, improving service delivery, and unlocking digital potential across rural and urban communities
