Judiciary

In Adamawa State, the Judiciary serves as the third arm of government, entrusted with distinct constitutional duties, including:

  • Interpretation of the Constitution and other legal statutes
  • Defining citizens’ rights
  • Resolving disputes and protecting vulnerable groups Additionally, the Judiciary presides over both criminal and civil cases and provides legal validation for transactions and documentation on behalf of the state.

At the helm of the State Judiciary is the State Chief Judge, appointed by the Governor. The judiciary comprises a hierarchical structure of courts, including State High Courts and Customary Courts, alongside Special Courts like Revenue Courts and Sanitation Courts, each serving specific functions.

By interpreting laws and settling conflicts, the Judiciary upholds the rule of law, ensuring fairness and justice throughout Adamawa State.

“The Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, is a consummate judge who rose through the ranks with an unblemished record in her years of service and substantive judgements to her belt,”
